What is hashing
A drinking club
with a running problem
The Hash House Harriers is an international group of non-competitive social running clubs, known worldwide as “a drinking club with a running problem.” Enthusiasts call themselves hashers and the activity hashing.
While most kennels run, here in Abuja we proudly blend running with hiking, taking trails through hills, rocks and scenic landscapes that showcase the beauty of our city. A hare lays the trail in shredded paper. The pack follows the marks, shouting “On On!” when they find them and doubling back when they don’t. Nobody wins. Everybody drinks.

The hare lied. Turn around, find the last check, and try a different direction.

hosted the nation
The Nash Hash is an annual gathering where hashers from every corner of Nigeria and beyond come together for three days of trail chasing, mischief-making, reconnecting with old friends and chugging down plenty of chilled beer. The hosting right has come to Abuja H3 twice.

In every Hash club the Grand Master leads the kennel forward — guiding the Mismanagement Team, keeping runs well organised, and setting the tone of the circle with songs, jokes and tradition. The GM welcomes newcomers, represents the kennel at anniversaries and Nash Hash, and keeps the humour and fellowship alive.
